ABSTRACT  Digital Library has the supremacy to cater unimaginable and extraordinary prospective resources to provide e-learning method. This paper discussed what e- learning is and how digital library can support the system through the restore and consolidate e -resources. The key responsibilities and changing role of LIS professionals and how it’s disseminating its services in LIS  field. How users are benefited through this digital library service and what are the constraints of spreading e-learning and digital library systems. How these types complications can be dissolved to  provide a time saving easily accessed constructive knowledge society. INTRODUCTION The revolution of information communication technology and information explosion commanded imperative changes in human life. Many types of researches have been conducted to ascertain the reason for moving the readers to “E-learning system”. E-learning is a term generally used for information superhighway based learning system. We are now on the edge of knowledge & information age where e – learning is becoming cumulative important part of teaching these days even in a case of developing country (for example – India). Due to this newly developed information communication-based e-learning model librarian needs to reassess the mode of resource management and service delivery process.  Lopamudra Sarkar and Pranab Kumar Roy 2 2. SUMMARY The all-inclusive development in the higher education sector divulges the leading force of e – learning which could only satisfy the diversified needs of the learners. E – Learning delivers through mobile technologies like PDAs, MP3 player, multimedia, CD- ROMs, collaborative software, email, blogs, and wikis, animation, simulation, chat etc. Nowadays e- learning is becoming mostly internet based and composed too. E- Learners are getting access to huge information through a single click. Previously we had approached physically to a library for getting any information like government documents, back issues of periodicals, old advertisements for reference. Presently these are available in a soft form of institution’s digital archives (which are maintained by institution’s library) if any learners require this information he/she can bring it from that particular site. With the help of digital process, the life cycle of rare hard copy documents can be increased. Through digital library platform, Information resource professionals have the prospect to offer e-learners with guidelines at the same time they are saving their clients from information overload. Through digital library system e- learners can be linked with catalogues, licensed journal databases, e-books collections, selective electronic resources & selective dissemination of information services, electronic course assets, tutorials, forums of communications & interaction with groups/ others. Enormous proliferation of e- learner’s base, libraries are adopting a digital mode in the vast area. Ranganathan’s 5th law describe that library is a growing organization. The growing movement is regular updating of information as well as collections. Presently e-books are evolving rapidly in the library and to the booklover's choice. So according to readers usages, some well-known publishers have created their e-books platforms which technical requirements and advantages are given below:- 3. WILEY John Wiley & sons, INC, known as Wiley is a global publishing company founded in 1807 .This publisher's e-textbook platform is powered by Vital source Technologies. It is the most used e-textbook platform in the world today. It is portable, smart, cost-effective, as well as interactive. After installing the reader software it can be downloaded as many times it’s needed by activating your account using username and password. If the e-file is deleted or corrupted accidentally it can be download again only you have to retain the username & password. In any case of a problem, there are Vital-Source technical supporters who will troubleshoot your problem. They mainly provide 4 kinds of e-products according to various Operating system: •   iOS •   Android •   MAC & PC •   Online 4. PEARSON Pearson education is a British publishing company who serves to schools, corporations along with directly to students. This Publisher has 4 online products named ThinkTank Library, ThinkTank Touch, Think TankPlus and Acadmix. 4.1. Thinktank Library Pearson publisher created Thinktank library e-books platform which includes several well-known titles through its e-Books repository collection. The subscriber can access the entire library of information by borrowing through books, finding the right text and reading the content. Advantages of Thinktank for Institutional Repository •   It can be accessed 24x7 •   If a subscriber has an Internet activity they can access it from anywhere, as it is browser based access ability. •   Relative topics can be searched easily in the entire e-text. •   Very ease to access user have to just Log in – search – select -and start reading. After reading the searches readers can save their notes in their own accounts. 4.2. Thinktank Touch Another e-platform of Pearson education publisher's is Thinktank Touch. It is a complete, smarter outcomes for Engineering Students. It has been designed on a user-friendly platform to provide the user access to the subject e-Books along with thousands of learning elements such as animations, videos, simulations, images, and 3D objects  4.2.1. Advantages of Thinktank Touch •   The repository can be accessed anytime anywhere in offline mode also. •   Notes can be highlighted, bookmarks for future reading. •   It is the smartest way of learning for understanding a complex topic through various multimedia support. •   It is helpful to obtain a good score in the exam for students. 4.3. ThinktankPlus Thinktank Plus offers enhanced books with interactive videos and assessments. 4.4. Acadmix Explore the wide collection of academic eBooks by well-known authors & publishers across the globe 5. MCGRAW-HILL McGraw-Hill Education (MHE) is a learning science company and one of the famous educational publishers that provides customized educational content, software, and services which provide reference and trade publications for the medical, business, and engineering professionals and scholars. They have launched their e-book platform named as “Smart-Book”. 5.1. Smart-Book SmartBook is a digital conversion, of course, textbooks. It contains the same content within the textbook, but unlike a typical e-book, SmartBook actively customized that content individual needs as a student. SmartBook can be accessed online through from laptop, tablet or smartphone and is also accessible offline also.  5.1.1. Advantages of SmartBook Smartbook helps student to obtain good score in end term exams •   It save the time of a reader •   It increases the memorize capacity of student •   Smartbook uses is very friendly and can use in any platforms e.g- android, windows, Linux etc •   Readers/ Students improve their skills by the result of self-exercise.  5.1.2. How Smart-Book can be Subscribed SmartBook is a subscription-based service. BRITISH COUNCIL LIBRARY The British Council is founded in 1934.It is a British organisation and serves as a cultural institution. It spreads over 100 countries and promotes the British Culture and Language education. British Council also offers online, subscription for their library collection in (e-resources form such as online academic books, e- journal, e-newspaper, e-movies, e-zines, e-literature & e-magazines). Technical Requirements •   Internet Access •   Adobe Digital Edition for Laptop and Desktop Users; Bluefire Reader for iOS and Android user. Both these free software is different from Adobe Reader. And the link to download this software is also available with the download option. Education practice became easier by distance learning because of the inception of digital libraries educational sectors. Libraries can store course materials in particular server or in the cloud to support online courses. Pupils can get materials on countless topics written by many writers within a solo click through digital library support. Digital libraries are playing a pivotal role to change the dimension of fundamental aspects of the classroom that impacts in teaching techniques. The aim of development of digital libraries to support pedagogical methods should escort as evolving technology for education which grasp the gripping vision of education. Digital library clubs up collections, services, support the full cycle of creation, diffusion, preservation of information and obviously uses of knowledge. Digital libraries can support e-learning systems to •   Improve student’s performance •   Improve quantity, quality, ample of web- based course related resources •   Make easy to search and retrieve material for those who are associated with the learning system •   Ensure the availability of required material In the e- learning milieu digital library should function as semiconductor library service and collection development which operates simultaneously to craft an enrich e- learning environment. Digital libraries add prospectuses, course contents, and live lectures as well as recorded previous lectures, lesson plans, modeling and replications which help tutors to edit and modify and peer review of contributed course materials, learning management systems, exam kiosk tool etc. 7. LMS LIMS - Learning management System is a mechanism for reading e-books. Before we discuss this mechanism we should know what the LMS is actually. Learning management system can be treated as a learning tool which is used for online training and reading programs. At present era online learning, reading & training has changed the obstacle of distance learning and reading habits of the users. We should cautious about the obligatory before choosing an LMS. 7.1. Steps before Selecting an LMS 7.1.1. Choosing an LMS LMS choosing is a very important decision. Beware of Money Making Industry While choosing we should beware of the money making and fraud industry. 7.1.3. The role of an LMS LMS is learning management tool so its uses and need are variable to different users. The user uses it in different ways like training, reading, or selling personal courses online. As education is a social need so it has a crucial role in social life. 8. SOME WELL-KNOWN LMS AND THEIR FEATURES 8.1. Word Press Word Press is one kind of LMS which is used by the user mostly for its two important reasons. •   It is easily extendable •   Can easily customize. 8.2. Brightspace Brightspace is a tool to design courses, create content and grade assignment. That completely focus on learning and teaching to the faculty. Some features are given below   •   It is a course management learning management tool •   It is easily accessible anywhere anytime in mobile or computer device •   Its standards are globally acceptable for all kind of user •   It has the capability of audio and video feedback 8.3. Moodle Moodle is a Learning Platform or course management system (CMS) - a free Open Source software package designed to help educators create effective online. Moodle is designed to provide educators, administrators, and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalized learning environments. It is an Australian company of 30 developers. Moodle is trusted by institutions and organizations large and small, including Shell, London School of Economics, State University of New York, Microsoft and the Open University. Moodle empowers both learning & teaching. Its interface is very simple like drag and drop features A simple interface, drag-and-drop features. The module can be downloaded from the below link for Ubuntu 14.04LTS   8.4. Sakai Sakai is one of the flexible management systems. Sakai is a free, open community source, an educational software platform designed to support teaching, research, and collaboration. Sakai also was known as Course Management Systems (CMS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environments.
